BETHEL'S PROJECT

ABOUT US

Bethel's Project was born out of a need to empower families who were touched by a disability and at risk of breaking down. Pedro J. and Dina E Acevedo's Foundation Corp is a 501(c)(3) organization. The Board of directors and members are volunteers, uncompensated, healthcare and business professionals and parents.  Bethel's Project, an International Foundation for Autism and Related Disabilities (IFABP), has been serving children and families for over a decade.

IFABP has been servicing families not only in Miami Dade County but also in Broward and Saint Lucie County, making sure that they are safe during hurricane season and in the appropriate shelter, outreaching and contacting the agencies that will provide individualized services for them. Funding educational and vocational programs so that they can obtain licenses and secure a job.

IFABP is committed to the health, welfare, quality of life, and  providing multisensory services to children and their caregivers. We provide support and resources to help the immediate caregivers enjoy optimal spiritual, emotional and physical health.

OUR HISTORY

Bethel's Project started in 2013 when Esther Castillo and Dr. Nelson Fernandez applied for the non-profit corporation, which carries the name Esther's two children, Pedro (who has autism) and Dina (who has Attention Deficit Disorder).

Over the last decade, Bethel's Project has been able to bring counseling and resources to people with disabilities from all over the world.

Our main goal is to close the gap and offer services that are not being delivered to those in need.  We want to offer education, counseling, literacy, and companionship to adults and children with disabilities and their caregivers.

OUR LOGO

On the day of the registration of our non-profit corporation, we asked my son Pedro, who is an artist, to draw a picture of a place where he wanted everybody to be accepted and welcomed. Pedro went to his room with a piece of paper and came back with a picture of planet earth. The planet had an open door where you could see the heaven through it; there was a door, green grass, and many people and children with a disability, ready to enter the door. Bethania Pena, my stepdaughter said: "This is a Bethel, house of God and Heavens' gate, let's call this ministry and project "Bethel." She then placed the picture inside of a puzzle, which is a symbol of Autism.
